#66 - ALA.NI (Interview Show)

ALA.NI is a singer songwriter who burst onto the music scene with the superb You & I LP, which led to comparisons to Sarah Vaughan and Billie Holiday. Its follow up ACCA was more contemporary in sound but equally brilliant, even featuring Iggy Pop on one track. Both records were written entirely by ALA.NI a cappella. Tom chats to her over Zoom about her voice, sexism in the entertainment industry and the meaning behind her new song Lament for Emmett Till. NB - This episode was originally recorded as part of Tom's Greatest Music of All Time Podcast, which organically evolved from its inception in early 2020, from a focus on the discussion of music to also exploring pop culture, comedy, entertainment, entrepreneurship, philosophy, science, politics and current affairs commentary. It was renamed as the Tom Cridland Podcast in January 2023.
