Sal is a landmark restaurant in Portugal. Comporta is an area on the rise, thankfully not yet ruined by corporate investment like much of the Algarve, but there is a danger of that in the future. That said, if everywhere is as tastefully executed as this restaurant it won't be a worry. The food: fresh grilled fish, salads, tomato rice, clams, garlic prawns is really amazing and shows off just how great Portuguese cuisine is (in contradiction to the opinion of some "food bloggers" I have come across). The decor and vibe remind me of Le Club 55 in a good way. The bonus is that Praia do Pego is a lovely beach too, so if you haven't had too much port after lunch you can waddle into the ocean.
